

Chupps, a footwear brand, has unveiled an eco-friendly billboard made from biodegradable materials in Bandra, Mumbai, thereby solidifying its commitment to the environment with an idea that literally goes back to nature. The 3D billboard is made up only of bamboo, clay, sawdust, hay, and natural rope, and it gets washed away with water, a thing that happens with the ‘True Zero’ line of biodegradable sneakers, ‘Chupps’ latest offer.
The ad features a bold 16-foot chappal installation that reads, “100% biodegradable, exactly like this billboard.” Almost 95% of the world’s footwear goes to waste and decays in landfills for centuries. We wanted to turn that problem around by altering the material composition itself and not just resorting to recycling,” he explains.
Chupps ‘True Zero’ line, which was launched in December 2024, is made from an EVA compound specifically designed to decompose in 24 months after disposal. Though having the green attribute, the price of the collection is kept on the lower side, starting at Rs 599. “Sustainable consumption should not be expensive,” Mukhi observes.
Chupps is targeting the urban consumers aged 16 to 35 and wants to turn environmentalism into a lifestyle without sacrificing comfort and quality. The firm at present shows a run rate of Rs 50 crore annual revenue and aims to double it by the conclusion of the financial year.
