Bingo! Mad Angles, the well-known snack brand from ITC, has cleverly and humorously used the ‘Desi Bhoot Bachao’ social media ad campaign to trick and treat the Indian audience this Halloween. Developed and brought to life by Tonic Worldwide, the campaign playfully reacts against the influx of foreign ghosts in Indian entertainment, asking people to explore and enjoy their own legends instead.
The movie of the campaign is a parody of a news special, with upset people, a cartoonish news anchor, and a group of old-fashioned Indian ghosts all asking for their share of fame as main characters. The story is told through a blend of satire, which covers up the comedian’s way into the audience’s minds, and storytelling, which moves deeply and quickly from one to the other. The whole scene is shot from both inside and outside the protest and debate locations with the aid of handheld cameras thereby making the tone of the visuals even more powerful and lively through speed comic timing, over-reacting, and an up-tempo, energetic sound track.
Bingo! campaign has been true to its naughty and impudent brand character in ‘Desi Bhoot Bachao’ ad, which finds a funny cultural contradiction Indian people indulge in the best desi snacks such as Achari Masti yet they have been open to Western ghosts in Halloween celebrations. The campaign by means of humor and cultural pride urges revival of Indian folklore and at the same time reminds the audience that if there is something to be scared of, it should be from our own stories, in our own language.
Sudish Balan, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Tonic Worldwide, commented, “India has come to a stage where Halloween parties attract more Draculas than Dayans. With Desi Bhoot Bachao, we tried to literally haunt that thought. Bingo! has always endorsed the craziness in our culture and this campaign is an homage to that chaos and character."
The promotion for the campaign will be held on Bingo! Mad Angles’ online channels with the intention of motivating the users to post their best protest slogans and consequently, be among the lucky prize winners. The October 30, 2025, publication declares that the project is an affirmation of Bingo!'s dedication to blending humor, creativity, and cultural authenticity.
