Full local train wraps on the Mumbai commute

Socks are bought by the people standing on a Mumbai platform in office clothes, which makes the local train less a medium than a description of the audience. Full exterior wraps were taken on Western Railway rakes carrying the office socks proposition with Kartik Aaryan, running an English creative on one rake and a Hindi one on another so the same commute was covered in both languages. The wrap ran the length of the coach, including the panels between the doors.

What it delivered

A full wrap on a local train is seen from the platform by everyone waiting, not only by the passengers who board, so a single rake works every station on its line. Splitting language across rakes covered the whole commuter base without compromising either creative.

The preferred medium

73.6% is print

Print captured the highest share of the sector’s ad spend over the 12 months to September 2025, at 73.6% of estimated television, print and radio spend. Digital sits outside this split because TAM prices it on a different scale; it is reported by ad count instead.

Print 73.6%
Television 25.5%
Radio 0.9%

A plan that skips print buys a smaller share of this category’s voice than the headline spend suggests.

Methodology & notes

Built from 18 industry-standard ad-monitoring and research sources. Every number here is a count of ads recorded: how many ads the brand ran and where they ran. We do not publish rupees, because the cost figures in the data are not comparable between TV, radio, print and online. City figures cover print, radio and outdoor, the media bought market by market.
